Once in a blue moon! And it was! After sending LL some messages about senior housing in her area, I bumped into her old friend Q. I was at the grocery story/deli getting a NY Reuben (delicious) and I noticed this person standing next to me. I thought I knew him but didn't say anything. I went outside to eat my sandwich and he came out and walked toward me. We both recognized each other. He sat and talked for a while. I mentioned that I had been in touch with LL. He seemed to know what she was having difficulty with at this time but didn't share what that was. In one of her emails, she had mentioned that she was having some problem but didn't elaborate. But, it's a small world or so it seems. What are the probabilities of such a confluence of events happening? Small to non-existent you would think! But not so today--the first of September!

Watched a SciFi movie by British film maker Danny Boyle (yes of London Olympics 2012 fame--what's the probability of me picking up one of his films on and about the day of the of the Opening Ceremony?)--Sunshine. It was a spectacular display of special effects. The story line was vary tenuous. A crew of astronauts (a second crew since the first expedition had disappeared without achieving the mission to nuke the sun--I said it was tenuous) had been sent to do the job not completed by the first expedition. They were to send a massive explosive device into the sun to kick start the star. The star had been struck by some cosmic debris that was causing it to fade prematurely (years rather than billions of years). Of course there are problems--scientific, mechanical, spiritual, psychological--and more including a recalcitrant AI (a definite Hal-like construct). The sets and graphic effects were spectacular. The script and story were ho-hum or worse. The acting was nothing great--but the actors did have to deal with the scripts they were given.

Cool today! A hint of fall in the air! Felt good with everything cooled down.
