Hot in the city today! Temperatures had to be up in the 90s. It was muggy and sluggish all day long. I slept a lot today. I didn't get anything with caffeine so I nodded off for most of the warm day.

Watched an indie movie this afternoon--Ballast. The film was set in Mississippi and focused on a trio of African Americans who were related. Each was dealing with his/her own issues regarding what to do with their lives. The sound quality on the film was not all that good. Fortunately, the characters didn't talk a lot. It was a gripping film and was done in a minimalist way that was intriguing. It was the writer/director's first film but the result looked more polished and creative than that. He used several non-professional actors and enticed excellent performances from them.
