The highlight of the weekend was when the grandkid scribbled a bunch of things on a piece of paper and gave it to me. She said it was my Xmas card from her. She took the paper and proceeded to read it to me (even though there were no words on the paper--just a bunch of scribbles). She said the card read the following:
To Grandpa... I love you very much and this Christmas is going to be the best one you have ever had...I will treasure that slip of paper! It was the most expressive thing she has directed my way since I've been here. I was moved!
L (the ex sister-in-law) left this afternoon. It was good to see her after such a long time, but she is intense. I don't know how she and her one son can live under the same roof. He is as intense as she is--so having them both going at it together would be something.
After she left, everyone went for a nap. I napped for a couple of hours and it felt so good. It's been damp and cold all day. I've cranked the heater up a degree or two and the place feels better. 18 days to Xmas! The count down has begun. Many people out shopping. Amazon must be starting to hum!
Ho, ho, ho!
