Day of techno-puzzles! After I checked my email this morning, my wireless modem crashed and locked me out of access to the Internet. I went to Frye's and picked up a new modem. Then began a six or seven hour episode of trying to get the modem to work. I spent hours on the telephone with tech support people from the modem company, the DSL service, and the telephone company. Finally, after many hours of flailing, I finally figured out what connected to what, and the connections needed to be made. I'm now back on line with a deeper understanding of how to connect my computer to the Internet via a wireless modem. A very deep understanding that I hope I never have to repeat. It was a puzzlement!
Dreamed last night that I was staying in a house (one that I had stayed in for previous dreams). I heard some noise outside and looked out and saw a crane fall over and crush the neighbor's truck. I went outside to see if there was anything I could do. I ended up jogging down the hill to a campus area. There were some scenes of me with people in classrooms. I was also in a studio room where several students were making a display. They were cutting long strips of paper and gluing the strips onto a surface. It was some kind of project. I was in the room but wasn't doing anything in particular.
I'm stiff and sore from being hunched over the computer/modem all day. I even missed getting a midday meal. I enjoyed the puzzle solving even though it was difficult to decode what needed to be done. It's amazing that some of these techno-problems can be solved in real time. I don't know what the average person does though. It was a flood of techno-babble that I had to sort through, decode, and implement. Good news though! I'm back online!
