Happy Autumnal Equinox! And happy laundry day! Slept in this morning and got a late start at the laundromat. But all went well--not too big of a crowd there even though it was around midday. Made it to the library to exchange books and DVDs. Had a big sandwich (NY Reuben) and paid my regular homage at Trader Joe's! Finished off with a green tea latte even though it was a warm afternoon.

Not sure what I dreamed about last night. Dreams got mixed up with movie scenes and I didn't sort everything out before heading into the day (the daze, the maze, the haze).

Watched a Clint Eastwood film--Hereafter. It was a big budget film ($50MM) that grossed over $100MM--had lots of CSI and special effects which drove up the costs. Also was shot in three big ticket locations (SF, Paris, and London). All in all, the story was an attempt to make an intriguing tale, but it didn't work. There were three unlikely events (out of the possibly millions that actually happened in real life) that were made to connect and bring everything to a resolution. The events were a tsunami on a tropical island where a French reporter experiences a near death and she doesn't drown; a London teenager's twin brother gets hit by a vehicle and goes to the beyond but leaves his other half in the here and now; and an American man who has psychic abilities tries to stop "reading" others and contacting the ghosts that are still hanging about them. Through a series of events these three end up in the same place at the same time in London. And so it ends--they all three make contact with each other and life goes on. Everything was too unlikely for my taste. I particularly couldn't imagine (near the ending) that the boy saw and recognized the man (from the man's website--Google played a big part in this film), followed him to his hotel, and finally got into the man's room for a "reading"! And, yes, the man and the woman seem cosmically entwined and inferentially appear to have found each other and will ride off into the sunset (except, they are in London and it's likely to rain)! Oh, well! From Fateless (last night's film) to rip roaring Fate (tonight's Hereafter)! All goes on!
