Thermostat tinkering! Last night, as I was doing my nite-nite check of things, the thermostat conked off as I was looking at its settings. I went outside and checked the circuit breakers--they were not tripped. I came back and grabbed the instruction booklet. It mentioned that there might be batteries in the unit--just pull it off the wall and replace them.

It took me a while to finally pull it off the wall. I was fearful of breaking something, but I eventually gave it a tug and it popped free. Indeed, there were two AA batteries in the unit. I rummaged through some of the kitchen storage drawers and, behold, I found a packet of AA batteries. I replaced the old with the new and, voila, the unit started working once again. No need to call a repair person!

To top it off, the trash people managed to pick up my inadvertent compost debris. My efforts at breaking up the clumps that had formed paid off--the contents of the two cans disgorged everything into the maw of the truck. Farewell fair grass and weed debris! May you mulch into joyful dust!

I dreamed last night about making devices and testing how they worked. I was tasked with inventing all kinds of devices that could perform complex tasks. I helped direct the efforts to design and prototype the units, and put them through a range of tests and evaluations. There was a clean room feel to the places in the dream and everyone was dressed in white smocks.

Cooler daze and breezy waves--wandering the mystic maze! The month of May decays!
