Summer time! And day of the padres! I continue to sleep a lot. I slept in this morning, ate some breakfast, and went back to sleep for a few hours. Finally, got up and made a trip to the library and grabbed something to eat. Weather was cool this morning but has heated up throughout the afternoon.
I've not been dreaming, but going over memories of long past times and events. I've been recalling times and places from my childhood. In the process, I remembered that I had gone to three elementary schools. For some reason, I had nearly forgotten a second school I attended around fifth and sixth grades. We had moved from downtown Memphis to a cluster of homes on the north side of town. I spent at least two years there, but mostly remember going swimming in a nearby pool. The mind and memory can play funny games. Two years or more in that place, but it almost dropped out of my ken.
Once I pulled the string on those set of memories, others came flooding back. A lot of today was spent seeing images from those times. During those early years we actually lived in four places. I had four homes from the time I was born until I entered the 7th grade. There was the initial apartment followed by an apartment a few blocks away. Then there was a house in north Memphis, followed by a house in Frayser, a community north of Memphis. I can see each place clearly in my thoughts after the flood of memories I experienced.
With each of these places, I can see other, related people and events. It's all there, even though I thought such memories to be cloudy and vague. It's almost like I've been watching a movie today--a movie of my early years.
Got a padre day call from my daughter. Her husband is off on a road trip with their child. She is enjoying the respite and being alone.
