Can't beat the heat! Not on the street! Burning the feet! Will not repeat! It was hot today! Hot, hot, hot! Had to push into the lower 90s--that's what it felt like. Supposed to cool some over the next few days but still will be warm. Did a range of things today despite the heat (it was cool riding around with the AC going). Picked up mail, went by library to exchange DVDs, dropped by TJ's to pick up some juice squeeze, grabbed a few bites to eat, did the laundry, napped some while sitting under the fan, watched a movie, and a few other odd tasks. Hmmm! Guess I did more than I thought I did. Finishing up the day now, waiting for the evening to cool down some more.

Watched the latest redo of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. It was a somewhat major feat to shoehorn the huge novel into a few hours of suspense on the screen. It was an OK job but I prefer the BBC version that was spread out over multiple episodes so that I had time to work the puzzle plot more thoroughly. The film jammed and stuffed all of the formidable material into a scramble of back and forth scenes with little dialog used to help with the unraveling. The cast of actors was impressive and that all did a good job in their varied character-driven roles, but the foreshortened horizon of a film made for the action to be too much of a constant puzzle to make it work for me. Gary Oldman as George Smiley was good casting but a bit long between his pithy dialog elements and a plethora of head shots with nothing moving.

Didn't win either of the lottery drawings--yesterday's or today's! I don't think the winner of the $600MM Power Ball drawing has yet stepped up and claimed the prize. Where are you mysterious winner? Maybe the lottery people should send George Smiley to seek you out! Cheerio!
