It was warmer today by a little bit. Heater still turning on though as the evening cools.
Got a call from the senior apartment place in Palo Alto. Seems that my name had trickled to the top of the list. I would be moving in to the place in February 2014 if I were to exercise my option, but I told them to take me off the list. I'm not moving back to the Bay Area--certainly not so soon after moving here. If I were to look for a place like the one I'm declining, I'd find one in the now local area. There are plenty here and the waiting lists are not so long--it took over 1.5 years for me to move to the top of the PA list. That was actually fairly quick for the Bay Area, but it was about a half year too long.
Got a call from the optometrist's office checking on my surgery. All is well. I'm getting a bit logy from not exercising but that will soon change. Just have to encounter the holiday and then 2014 begins everything anew.
Put batteries in the math toy I'm giving my granddaughter. It's called Math Slam. It can be a bit loud if the volume is full on, but it has a jack for headphones (thank goodness). The game play is fairly extensive--the toy has five modes with four levels per mode. The five modes are number ordering, addition, subtraction, mystery number, and a mixed operation mode. The four levels for each mode and the progressive complexity of the different modes should make for a long play life.
The play is somewhat like Jeopardy meets beat the clock. The "problem" is presented, the four slam buttons start flashing each displaying a number (possible answers), and the player slams what he/she thinks is the correct one. The device responds with "Yeah" of "Nay" audio feedback. There is a timer that displays how long it takes a player to navigate a mode/level setting.
We shall see what we shall see! Perhaps it will be the sea we see!
