3250

Triple-digit heat wave across the Western states! Local temperatures were reported as being all over the map. It certainly felt like a triple-digit day no matter what the official forecasts recorded. I planted myself under the fan and stayed there for several hours in the late afternoon. It was hot, hot, hot!

Tried watching a turgid German film this evening -- Forest for the Trees. It seemed to take forever for each new scene to manifest. The story was about a new teacher who encounters difficulties taking over a class midterm. She's in a new school, new town, new everything and isn't doing that well finding her place in all these new environments. She does so badly, in fact, that I got bored trying to watch. Maybe there is a moment of redemption and breakthrough somewhere in the piece, but I couldn't wait for it to manifest.

Just as I punted on watching the rest of the movie, fireworks exploded on the nearby campus. It was quite a display and went on for quite some time. The kids in the complex went crazy and there was chaos for a while--then back to heat and heat!

More warm days are promised with no break for several days or more.
