We're having a heat wave! Not a tropical heat wave! More like a heat wave from hell! It's muggy and scorching, as if the sun is focused on the earth, not in a diffuse way, but like through a lens. Had a resistance class today, which was great since we were indoors in the AC. Every place with AC was today like a shelter. I had a green tea frappuccino, a gourmet root beer, several bottles of water, and a double berry protein shake--all intended to help cool me down from the inside out. It worked for the most part. Also kept the AC in the truck on while I was driving everywhere. Going to be several more days of these intemperate temperatures. Have to go with the flow--I can't do much in this heat. It's difficult enough without the heat, but with it all bets are off. It's too hot to blot--or some such phrase!

Laundry day tomorrow! Will do that in the morning while it's still not too warm. Then, huddle up and wade through the heated afternoon.

Watched a film this evening--The Quare Fellow. It's a Brendan Behan play made into a movie. It's about the men in a prison (criminals and warders) who have to deal with the upcoming hanging of a prisoner that's about to take place. A new warder is brought into the mix and he tries to balance things between the justice system and the cruelty of a death sentence. There's a lot of drinking that serves to oil the skids for everything that's being done. The film is an older production (1963) and is in b/w. The use of no color gives the film a starkness and grittiness that helps create the moods and movements.

It's getting late and it's still hot. Will probably sit under the fan and write out checks for upcoming bills.
