Gloomy Sunday--the movie--not the day! Watched a German film this evening--Gloomy Sunday. The film is named after a piece of music and lyrics that were composed back in the late 1920s. Some urban legends have sprung up, over time, about the song's power to cause suicides. What is more the truth is that beginning in the 1940s until today the song has been performed by a host of vocalists and others. The film is one of the latest reincarnations. It was released in 1999 and still enjoys a spot on the art screen cinemas. I picked it at random from the library DVD collection. It's a well done film that meshes a lot of historic elements of the invasion of Hungary, the Nazis, and more centered around a woman, two men, a cafe, and the composition. It's done as a lengthy flashback, with bookend scenes that take from now to then and then to now with a fitting resolution.
Otherwise, it was a warm Sunday despite the promise of cooler times. Got a call from my daughter wishing me a happy Father's Day. Also got a message from LL--she's in the area and we will get together on Tuesday afternoon, after classes. Tomorrow is C&M class and more cool weather promises--I'll feel it when I feel it!
I've installed Skype on my system but haven't linked up with anyone yet. Still trying to understand how to add a contact to the contact list. I'm back in the techno-gloom and haze it seems. I don't recall taking a nap today--where does the time go? Into black holes, perhaps!
