5168-5167

Talked with MD, the person who had brain surgery. He's doing well and will start chemo/radiation this week. One of his twin sons had to be hospitalized for a respiratory problem. He was sent to the same hospital that MD was sent to. MD and his wife have been really zapped by all of this. Sending them good thoughts.

My daughter came by yesterday. Had a good visit with her and one of her old friends. Her mother was also in the area and dropped by as well. She brought me a mala from her trip to India. We had a good visit. For a time, everyone was here and we had a bunch of laughs.

BH brought a great lunch today--lots of food--I'm stuffed! There's still a piece of apple crisp left for my later consumption! Think I'll save it for tomorrow.

Last night, I got to bed a bit later than usual. Feeling like an early out tonight!

Days zoom by! Resting and sleeping a lot. Eating well. GH made pasta on Wednesday. BH made a fish stew and apple crisp on Friday. Had an acupressure session on Friday. Did laundry today. Nice to be driving again.

Daughter and her mother coming by tomorrow. Will be good to see them both.

Reading a lot once again. GH lent me some DVDs of him doing his one person shows.

Need to get back on track with exercises and walking. Haven't been very consistent. Still haven't set up a schedule. Time to do so! Past time!

5177-5173

Went to the PT last Friday. Practitioner said my gait was OK, but had some muscle weakness. She gave me some exercises to help with leg muscle strength. Have begun doing the exercises daily.

My oldest son and his family drove up for the weekend. He spent the night with me on Friday night and we had a chance to share some time together. He installed some grab rails in my bathtub area. They really help me get in/out of the tub and provide stability when I shower.

Also got a chance to spend some time with his two daughters. S is a lovely child--sweet and caring. AR is a character--really joyous and bright. It was a treat to see them and his wife, M.

I rested a lot on Easter. BH came on Monday and brought a great lunch. Today, I went to the library and ran some errands. I drove today and several times over the weekend. Good to be mobile. GH is doing lunch tomorrow--his special pasta dish!

BH brought me an expanded manuscript of GH's life and stories. It's an expanded version of the short manuscript he'd given me. I look forward to reading it.

Got a call from an old friend, JK, who lives in Sante Fe. She'll be coming through in June. Will be good to see her.

Had acupressure session today. Felt good! Walked to and from the session and that also felt good. Tomorrow do a PT session focused on my gait. Curious to see what the PT people do.

Acupressure session was later than normal. When I got back, it was lunch time. Ate lunch and then got logy. Didn't take a nap, but sort of lost the afternoon. Would have been better to have napped some.

Feeling like I need to structure my days more--instead of drifting along as I've been doing. Otherwise, days go by in a blur with no clear purpose or direction. The time has come (again) the walrus says!

Lots of small earthquakes today on the other side of the bay--shake, rattle and roll!

Happy Spring!! The session with the PT yesterday was canceled--the person doing the session was ill. We rescheduled for Friday. Made it to see neurologist this morning (7:40 appointment!--last time I'll do one so early). Took bus, which worked out fine. He thought I was doing well with current medication level. I asked him about driving and he said he saw no reason I couldn't resume--that he had patients who were a lot worse off than me and were driving (makes you think about who's out there on the road).

BH brought a great lunch on Monday and again today. I walked a long distance today, especially when the trip to the doctor is added into the mix.

Have an acupressure session tomorrow. Then it'll be Good Friday and some PT. After that, the Easter Bunny arrives!

5184-5182

Happy Palm Sunday and St. Patrick's Day eve! Been a few days since I made a post. Friday, GH made lunch and we went for a walk at the baylands. Also had an acupressure session on that morning--feasts for the body and the soul.

Yesterday, I did my taxes! Used the online version of TurboTax--simple and easy, quick and inexpensive. For $10 and a little time, I e-filed both the state and federal returns. Now, waiting for my economic incentive rebate check. Nearly everyone will get one thanx to "W"!

I drove to the store and to get my mail today. Thought I'd see what it was like before meeting with the doctor this week. I think I'm ready to get back on the road! No big trips! But, errands and such should be no problem. I felt clear and aware--better than I felt the last time I drove.

I napped after I ate lunch. Just sat down and drifted off. Awoke when the winds started slamming doors. Beautiful, clear day but rather windy.

Got a note from L. She's been battling the flu--keeps getting reinfected at work as it makes its way through her office. Not fun!

Feeling stronger, clearer and better! Still low on stamina, but I'm making progress. Step-by-step!

5187-5185

Sleepy week! BH's husband, GH, brought my Monday lunch (BH was not feeling well). He is an amazing person. He's been an actor all of his life. He studied with a pantheon on great teachers (Uta Hagen, Geraldine Page, Lee Strassberg, and many others). He's been on stage, video and in the movies. He has many stories about what he's done and who he's worked with. The lunch he brought was excellent--and the stories he shared were incredible! He brought me a short manuscript that he authored that chronicles his life and work.

He's currently doing a review in his home on weekends based on a script he wrote over the past 6 months. That was the preview I got to go to a few weeks back.

I slept a lot on Tuesday--still somewhat recovering from my weekend trip to Livermore. Yesterday, BH brought lunch (scallops in a cream sauce)--was delicious. We went for a walk through Bol park after we ate. Today, I got up late and am about to take a nap. Called the Physical Therapy place and set up an appointment for next week.

Walked to my bank this morning (and back)--also walked to the produce shop up the street. Longest walk I've done in quite a while. But, I have to nap after all that. I feel like I'm starting to tolerate my heavier PD medication--although I seem to need a nap around the time I take the 3rd dose. Will see the doctor next week and get a reading on what's what.

Acupressure session in the morrow!

5191-5188

Been a few days since I've posted anything. Had an acupressure session on Friday and lunch with BH. On Saturday, rode over to Livermore to visit with MD--the person who had brain surgery last week. He is doing well and is recovering quickly. He still doesn't have the test results so that he knows what is next, but will get that data this week.

It was good to see him and his family--his twins are nearly 5--double trouble! RM drove me over. Since the last time we went there, the roads have been rerouted. We ended up losing our way until we looped back and found the (not obvious) sign that warned of the rerouting.

I was really tired when we returned (it's the longest distance I've travelled in a few months) and fell asleep as soon as I got home.

Spent Sunday morning shopping and getting place cleaned. Slept in the afternoon. Got up somewhat late this morning, but finally feel rested. Waiting for BH, who'll be doing lunch.

Bright, brilliant day!

Went to get bus pass today. Took bus to Mt. View and walked to senior center where there was a person handling the applications. Unfortunately, it will take them about a month to process the application and send me an ID card. Nothing is simple!

I got in a lot of walking though--from bus to senior center, senior center to bus--then took bus to bank and walked home from bank. Most walking that I've done in a while. Zapped me! Didn't take a nap though I rested a lot for the remainder of the day.

Acupressure session tomorrow.

Still trying to figure out the pattern of what the PD medication does. Felt OK this morning, less well from lunch to about 4pm, and even less well after taking the 5pm dose. I know that I'm still getting used to stronger dosage, so will go with it for now. See if it evens out some with continued usage.

Slept well last night and into the morning. Having dreams but nothing that I recall when I awake.

MD, the person who had brain surgery, is doing well. He's on his way home today. Still no word about the biopsy results, but he's doing well from the surgery.

BH came by today with her luncheon feast. I felt good today (slept a lot yesterday and this morning)--perhaps the new PD dosage is starting to even out. I was feeling a bit ragged after Sunday's long walk and Tuesday's bus trips to pick up the bus pass card (which I didn't get--have to go back tomorrow) and new PD meds.

I seem to feel better in the morning, a bit less so in the afternoon, and rather shaky in the evenings. I've been taking a nap around 4pm and that seems to moderate things some. Will keep monitoring the trends and see if there is anything that I'm doing (eating, not doing) that's keeping me unsettled. I have to keep reminding myself that it's only been a month plus that I've been getting enough real rest, food and light exercise. Still early in the process!

Tomorrow I'll go for the bus pass again. Have an acupressure session scheduled for Friday. May take a trip over to Livermore to see MD if he's ready to see visitors this weekend. Onward!

5197-5195

Walked two miles yesterday with RM. Went to a show preview on Sat night at BH's. GH, the show's creator and presenter, is very talented. The show revolved around GH's experiences over his life time, in song and narration. It was a treat to be invited to this "dress" rehearsal.

Of the people there, I knew a couple of them--small world!

After attending the show on Sat night and going for the long walk on Sun, I had to rest and slept most of Sun.

Got a call from RM last night letting me know that MD was put into surgery over the weekend. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was operated on to have it removed. No information yet on the biopsy results or the prognosis of what's next. It all happened quickly with little or no warning. May he be well!

Friend P stopped by for a visit this morning. Good to see her. BH will be here soon. I'm going to need a nap--even though I slept well last night. So be it!

Heading to Mt. View senior center tomorrow to get a transit card so I can use the bus pass. Onward and onward!
