It was a cool day! Temperature dropped and it was cool!

Had lunch with BH--salmon, salad with lots of vegetable variations, cranberry juice and brownies. A perfect meal! GH and I watched Guy Ritchie's Rocknrolla. Same basic plot as his earlier films brought up to date in terms of criminal activity and weapons. It wasn't as overall tongue-in-cheek as the earlier films, but was still entertaining.

Dreamed last night that I was in the mountains in the snow. There were ski trails all over the place--some with unexpected twists and turns that left me hanging onto air as I made my way around. There was a lodge area filled with people. I kept encountering the same people over and over again. It was a fun dream that was exciting and pleasant. And it was cool! Like the weather!

Ran across a CL ETC job listing for a caretaker for a person with PD here in Palo Alto. They have a cottage that they are offering as compensation. I'm considering giving them a call to see what's involved. My symptoms are such that I feel like I could caretake another person as long as there's no heavy lifting involved. And it makes some kind of crazy sense. It would lower my rental costs, allow me to stay in PA area, and give me some foresight into where I'm headed eventually. It seems a bit whack, but it also makes sense. It's something I definitely know something about!

PD dance restarts tomorrow. It's a bit sooner than I was planning to restart, but I think I'll give it a go to see how it works out.

Cooled off today! What a relief! Made a short trip up to Foster City. Went to the library there to pick up a copy of the Rocknrolla film. Got it before someone else picked it off. The drive was nice. Foster City is such an idyllic-looking place--with its canals and waterways, flowers and landscaping, hiking and running paths, and so on. I felt a bit like I was transported to another dimension. Round trip was not all that bad. It was the longest excursion I've made in a while. It was tiring (especially after I ate a big lunch when I returned) and I slept for a few hours when I got back.

Lots of dreams but not a lot of remembered details. Watched a Czech movie Give My Love to the Swallows. It is about a young woman who worked in the resistance and was caught and executed by the Nazis. The film was a bit plodding and repetitious. The story was heartfelt but not fully engaging. The woman that the story is about was no doubt brave and committed but the film didn't quite pull it off.

Didn't win the MegaMillion jackpot! Two people do hold the winning tickets. Wish them health with their wealth!

It was another hot (HOT) day! Too hot to be believed! Even with a fan going all day, the air felt like it was coming from a blast furnace. I cooled off as I drove around using the AC in the truck. I've consumed more liquids in the past few days than I have in a week normally. Definitely craving moisture. Supposed to cool down some over the next few days. Hope so!

Dreamed some last night, but don't recall the details. I was flipping/flopping a lot what with the heat and running a fan all night.

Waiting for the cool!

Heat, heat and more heat! The air is steamy, dense and on fire!

Had an acupressure session today. Leg feels good! But I'm done with the hot weather!

BH fixed a tasty lunch--halibut, charred vegetables, a tomato/olive dish, cranberry juice and brownies. GH and I watched Barton Fink, a Coen brothers' film. It was a spoof and was done well. It helped to have GH set the background for the film. It was one of their films that worked!

Dreamed last night but don't recall any details. It's too hot to remember any dreams. Need to be dreaming about icebergs or glaciers.

Got my new credit cards today. Of course, I didn't seem to get them activated correctly. I tried to do it online, but that didn't seem to work. I called and also felt like it wasn't done correctly either. Can't access my online account information. Will sort it out in the morrow!

Watched the Coen brothers' film The Man Who Wasn't There and Kieslowski's Dialogue #7. The Coen film was slow and plodding and wasn't that much of a mystery. Had some good actors but the story was fairly lame. Dialogue #7 had some great shots of a young kid whose face lit up the camera. The story was not all that compelling and I had little empathy for any of the characters other than the child. It was a "tale told by" some "idiots, signifying nothing!"

Dreamed I was in a tent camping out. It was really cool and I spent a fair amount of time trying to staunch the draughts. I think I was living in the tent. It seemed to be pitched on a slight rise overlooking a valley with a lake and a river.

Hot! Hot! Hot! Today was a warm one! Didn't help to have the utility trucks and equipment roaring about all day repaving the street. It's like having them in my living room. Hopefully, they're getting done soon.

Dreams from last night have come and gone. Don't recall what they were about. They were shadowy and dark like scenes from an old movie.

The street repair people descended today. They were ripping off the surface of the street and laying in new asphalt. They were dirty and noisy. They raised clouds of dust and dirt as they stripped away the old surface. They were efficient but really intrusive.

Watched a Coen brothers' film Miller's Crossing. It was a typical Coen movie with lots of violence, betrayals, and comic book-like scenes. Had some good actors but the story drove the action.

The week has zoomed by. I feel like I'm on a runaway train. It's careening along, out of control, and all I can do is hold on and ride the ride.

4654

Dreamed last night that I was in a mountain area. There was some snow and ice, but a warm spell had caused some melting. I was out on the trails and was jogging through a region that was muddy. It was difficult to slog through the muddy sections, but I was doing well and making a good time. There was a lodge where everyone was housed. I was sharing a room with a man I didn't know. We were assigned rooms and beds randomly if we didn't have companions. I had come into the room late and had left my key in the door when I had entered. I apologized to my roommate. He pulled the key from the lock and tossed it to me. Most of the dream involved jogging along various routes. There wasn't enough snow to do any skiing. The weather was bright and sunny, although the temperature remained fairly cool.

Watched The Double Life of Veronique today. It was clearly a Kieslowski film, but not as engaging as some of his others. The sound and images were typically beautiful. The story was a bit weak--two women who looked alike and shared some sensibilities but lived entirely separate lives--except for some slight chance encounters. I look forward to seeing the rest of the Decalogue.

Road work begins tomorrow. The utility people are going to be digging up the street for a week. Welcome to the real world!

Lunch with BH (lentil soup with yogurt, stir-fry of prawns, scallops, rice, noodles and vegetables with cranberry juice and apple crisp and fruit). Delicious! GH and I watched an Australian film called The Proposition. It was a beautifully photographed piece that was very violent. There were brutish army types, animistic white criminals, aborigines who were fighting for their land and freedoms, crusty farmers and frontiersmen--all vying to stay alive in a hell hole of a place. It was a shocking and absorbing film that didn't pull punches and told a tough story without flinching. The visuals were awesome!

Dreamed last night that I was staying in a huge house. There were rooms everywhere. A couple owned the place, but left the doors open to visitors and people who knew people. I spent part of the dream trying to find the room I had scoped out when I first arrived. For some reason, I would get disoriented as I move about and kept ending up in other people's rooms. There was nothing too anxiety producing about the dream's events, but it seemed like the dream was taxing in some ways.

Signed up for the Tuesday movement class--assuming that my leg is healed by then and I can move and exercise. The leg is doing better--it's just taking longer than I have expected. I got two more weeks to get it worked out before classes begin.

4657-4656

Dreamed last night that I was in a set of movie-like sequences that were in French. The dream characters were speaking French and there were English subtitles flashed on the dream screen when they spoke. The dream scenes revolved around the conversations three people were having. I was one of those people. There was a woman and another man. I was lucid enough in the dream to realize that we were speaking in French (which I do not speak in reality). I was hearing and speaking French phrases to the other two people. I seemed to understand what they were saying even without the subtitles. The dream was probably triggered by the movie Red which I watched yesterday. It is a Kieslovski film that is part of a trilogy. I seemed to recognize pieces of yesterday's film--I may have seen it a long time ago.

I've now seen Kieslovski's Red and White but have yet to view Blue. They form a trilogy. I'm also working my way though his Decalogue--10 short pieces that are each about 55 minutes long. Kubrick touted Decalogue as the greatest film ever made. I've watched the first two episodes and they were striking. I'll see how the other eight play out.

I'm becoming quite the film-o-phile! I also have another Kieslovski film and a couple by the Coen brothers. Let the film reels roll!

4658

Busy day! Had lunch with BH (vegetable soup with yogurt, mixed green salad with eggs and sardines, cranberry juice and apple pie). GH and I watched a Guy Ritchie film called Snatch. It was similar to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Twists and turns and the confluence of wild coincidences! He's done a couple of other films that can be found at the library.

Dreamed last night that I was in a seminar. The instructor had a very didactic way of presenting problems for solution. He spent a lot of time going over the question and answer protocols. I was only paying partial attention. I wasn't too pleased to be stuck in the class and I figured I could answer the questions one way or another despite the protocols. I wasn't too sure I understood what what was being discussed, but I felt I could wing it. There were other parts to the dream that had to do with not being in class. Somehow the whole dream session was like something I could barely hold on to and that was just out of my grasp.

Tonight I went to BH/GHs for walk through of GH's new show. He is amazing! He's researched and rewritten an entire Gershwin musical into a one-person performance piece. It's an early version of Strike Up the Band that never was successfully performed. GH has resurrected the play, lyrics and music. Quite a feat!

4659

Watched a Kieslowski film, White, this afternoon. I recall seeing Blue and being mesmerized by it. White is equally engaging. And I have Red as well. Kieslowski had a brief but brilliant career, producing a handful of great movies. I plan to see all of his films that I can locate.

I had a shock this morning. I logged on to my Visa card account and was told that the account no longer existed. I called the company and was informed that they had canceled my account because of some security issues. They assured me that a new card was on its way and that everything would be switched over to the new account once I activated the new cards. What a pain! I guess my card number was one of those picked up by hackers. I'll know more (maybe) when I get a communication from the card people.

Dreamed last night that I was working with a team of people on a new set of toys. Each toy had three modes of interaction (game, conversation, puzzles). Each toy utilized the same software for each interaction mode, but personalized the toy based on its use by the child/owner. The team I was working with (three of us) had the primary responsibility for each interaction mode. I was in charge of the game software. The other two people were responsible for the other two modes, respectively. In the dream, we were testing out the software with groups of kids. It was a fun interesting dream!

Drove GH to his body worker appointment today. He kept me engaged with some of his many stories on the way to the appointment and back. I enjoyed the outing. When I got back I went to the CG for an early dinner. It was delicious!

4660

Today's acupressure session was good. My leg continues to loosen. I can walk more evenly, finally. The question is how to keep it that way.

Dreamed last night about something that had to do with being cold--cryogenics perhaps. Don't remember any details.

Did laundry this afternoon. Bumped into someone who had daughters in school with my daughter about 20 years ago. He's a sculptor and is sort of wacky. His daughters are grown now as well--one just having had a baby.

Watched another Coen Brothers' film--the Hudsucker Proxy. A total whack movie. I guess they just keep plugging away and some films come out well and others do not. Proxy had a style--a lot like a cartoon strip--but the premise/story/plot was really dumb. Oh, well!!

Dog days of August! Arf, arf! PH sent me a photo of her and a man dancing. The man is 101 years old! He's very elegant. Have to keep on dancing!

4661

Had lunch with friend PH today. We went to the CG and feasted on wild salmon and bread pudding. She's about to head off to Africa again. May she have a wondrous journey!

I ended up sleeping away the afternoon. Fell into the bed after the hearty lunch and was awakened by the heat. Sleeping felt good though--until the heat chased me from the bed.

Dreamed last night that I was flying about in various airships. Most were zeppelins or open air balloons. I was with a woman and we were flying all over the western US. We landed in a small town and I went out to get some coffee and some pastries. There was a small bakery/cafe where we landed. They had homemade breakfast pastries that were delicious. We ate breakfast and then took off again. Most of the dream involved flying and sailing through the sky. It was a light-filled, fun dream.

Watched a film by the Coen brothers, Blood Simple. It was one of their first films and showcased Frances McDormond. She ended up in several of their films (Fargo and so forth). Their films are fairly formulaic (violence, blood, macabre scenes, and so forth). Nothing spectacular, but they keep on grinding them out.

4662

Lunch with BH today (corn on the cob, ratatouille, fava beans, fried potatoes, halibut, fruit with yogurt and cranberry juice). Splendid! GH, their nephew from NY, and I watched a hilarious film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the film is about the misadventures of four guys who try to strike it big in a card game. Their losses lead them to doing more and more risky things--all of which fold together in a comedic mishmash. It was a pleasure to laugh so much! We're probably going to see Snatch which was also done by Ritchie. He has two films in production.

Dreamed an intense dream last night but don't recall any details. There was one image in the film--a small dark object that contained a bright light. But, that's all I remember. It seems that a lot of the dreaming involved me noticing that I was aware of me dreaming--just floating along in the dream state.

4663

Dreamed last night that I was working on device that displayed messages on a thin flexible membrane. I was designing how the device displayed the text fields. In the prototype, the messages were somewhat jumbled and strangely formatted. I was working on the routines that would sort through the text items and decode what formatting should be applied. It was an absorbing task. I had been brought in to work on the project even though there were others already assigned to the task. I talked with one of the people and we exchanged ideas regarding what would be a solution. I felt good about what I was doing.

Weekend seemed to shoot by. It was Thursday and suddenly it's Sunday. I picked up Hemon's novel Nowhere Man. He is an intriguing writer. The images just cascade one after the other as he unfolds his stories.

Took back some DVDs and picked up some others. Watched a film with Johnny Depp called Blow. He portrayed a drug dealer in a story that is based on true life events. It was a good film--predictable but good. Depp played his role well although his aging seemed a bit hit and miss--and he maintained a lot of long hair despite being thrown in prison several times.

4664

Lunch with BH today. A delicious mix of pickled beets, salad, prawns and rice, cranberry juice and fruit. GH and I started watching Last Year in Marienbad and punted fairly close to the start of the film. It was chaotic, stilted, antiseptic, and many other things except engaging. It revolved around a man who was dreaming about meeting a woman whom he had met the year before. There is very little to like about the film and its contents. We ended up watching Hiroshima Mon Amour with the commentary running. It was a complex film that meshed documentary footage with scenes from France (the woman's memories and events) and the reactions of a Japanese man to the woman, her stories, and what had happened when Hiroshima was bombed. It was a more engaging work, but also suffered from being too purposeful, too self aware. This viewing may have ended our Resnais retrospective.

Dreamed an elaborate dream last night. In part of the dream, I am with some work associates. We are in an office and getting ready to head out for dinner. One of the people in the office is getting married and there is a reception dinner at a well know Indian restaurant. We end up driving to the place. This whole part of the dream takes place in an area of the city that has been the setting for some of my previous dreams. When we arrive at the place there seems to be some confusion on the owner's part about what's happening. There is no big table set up. We, the wedding guests, are scattered throughout the place. We proceed to order from the menu and that causes a problem in the kitchen. The kitchen had prepared some select dishes for the wedding guest. When people ordered from the menu, it clogged up the work in the kitchen. The kitchen ran out of ingredients and couldn't make some of what had been ordered. Many of the wedding guests sat for a long while without being served anything. The whole place was in chaos.

At some point in the evening the group I was with were taunted by some street gangs. We tried to avoid them as we approached the restaurant, but they were intent on giving us trouble. One of our group confronted them and managed to get them to back off. He was someone I had known a long time ago (in reality) and was someone who could handle a situation like we faced in the dream. At another point, I was explaining how someone could take a train back to the office area. I pointed out two train stations that they could use, and one that they should avoid. I had given these instructions to someone else in another previous dream.

In the dream, I was aware of the parts of the dream that had come from previous dreams. It created a strange feeling. Dreams with dreams within dreams!

4665

Had a good acupressure session today. Will get another next Wednesday. Hopefully that will help heal my left leg and get it loose again. The leg is definitely better, but still a bit tweaky.

Dreamed last night an intense dream, but don't remember what it was about. I clearly remember dreaming, but don't have a clue as to what I dreamed.

Got a haircut today. I have so little hair that it's getting questionable whether or not I really need it cut. Although it does look better cut than not. Even with a small ring of hair it starts to look unkempt if it gets too long. The lady that cuts my hair does it quickly and well. Guess seeing her every 3-to-4 months is not all that much of a problem.

BH postponed lunch until tomorrow. Will eat with her and GH and watch a Resnais film. We will probably watch Hiroshima, Mon Amour. I just rediscovered that my B-day is on the day Hiroshima was bombed--August 6th. I was six years old then. It's odd! I don't recall any details about either my birthday that day or the fact that the bomb was dropped. Wonder how I spent that day? Who knows?

4667-4666

Missed a day of posting. I was really sleepy last night and just went to bed instead of flailing in the blog.

Dreamed last night that I was involved in some kind of production/performance. There were elaborate costumes and large set pieces that had to be constructed. A person I know, RLB, was in charge of designing the set pieces. They were incredible pillars formed by sheets of acetate that towered over the action on the stage--like alien creatures watching the performance. The dream was very visual and the stage lighting was varied and intense. I also had some role in writing the actions that were being performed.

Spent the day driving GH on his errands. It was fun to be with him and to help him out. Although, we narrowly escaped being hit by a car that was backing out in front of us. We were in the woman's blind spot and she nearly creamed us. I reflexively stomped down on the gas pedal and shot us past her by a hair. All is well that ends well. Thanks to the vehicle gods!

Had a blood vessel flare up on the back of my right hand. Made a purple spot that appeared out of nowhere. It doesn't hurt or anything, but looks like a birthmark. Maybe it was a belated birthmark--one that is just now arriving.

Have an acupressure session tomorrow. Leg is feeling better but is still twingy. Hoping tomorrow's session will quiet things down even more.

4668

Dreamed last night that I was at a train station. There were hordes of people there, going and coming. At one point, there was a long shot of the platform. I was in the distance, standing in what looked like a circular form. I was also, at the same time, at the other end of the platform, standing in another circular form. The two images were somehow linked in some way. They were forming the egress locations for people who were walking along the platform. There was an audible humming sound that was being generated by the presence of the two symbols.

Watched a movie, Fracture. It is a mystery, drama, thriller about a man who plans a crime and how he will get away with it. It was a good story and played well with Anthony Hopkins as the smart killer.

I read a lot today once I made it out of bed. I want to sleep in late and stay up late. My biological clock is totally out of sync with the world. Heard that the PD dance class will resume in September. Looking forward to dancing again--dancing in the rain!

4669

Had lunch with BH. (guacamole, sauteed vegetables, cole slaw, crab cakes, home fries, fruit, cake and juice). It was quite good!

GH and I watched Resnais's film Providence. The best one of his so far--although if it hadn't had an introduction to set the stage, it might have been incomprehensible. The first 4/5ths of the film was a dream of an old man about a plot for a novel. The characters in the dream were his family members. They appear in the final 1/5th as they are in reality and not as characters in the old man's dream. It was an interesting film, but still was somewhat quirky like his other films we've seen. Perhaps there will be a revelation in the two films he's best known for--Year at Marienbad and Hiroshima with Love.

Did dream last night, but don't recall what about. They were intense scenes, but can't resurrect the details. It was hot last night. Slept with the fan going all night. Will do the same tonight. Today was a scorcher! Drinking lots of juices!

Sunday, August 09, 2009

4670

Hot today! Way hot! Starting to cool some this evening, but it's still hot!

Dreamed last night about being with a group of people who were writing. We each had a notebook. We would write in our notebooks and then share what we had written with the others. There were people of all ages in the group. Sometimes, we would tilt our notebooks toward the floor and coins and other objects would cascade from within the pages. Each of us was writing so that the material could be aggregated and published together. It was a very positive dream. I think there were other parts to the dream, but the core revolved around the notebooks and the spilled objects.

Watched a film, Missing, today. It was a drama based on an actual event about a person getting swept up in a coup and disappearing. His wife (Sissy Spacek) and father (Jack Lemmon) battled the smokescreen that surrounded the events to discover what happened to their husband/son. It was a slightly stilted movie that ground away at the subtexts addressed by the story. An OK film, but nothing spectacular.

70 and counting! Keep thinking about what I'm going to do as time continues to unfold. Can't just keep on sitting and waiting. Have to learn to dance in the rain!

4671

Watched the film Rosencrantz and Guidenstern are Dead today. It was a pleasant movie with good performances by Gary Oldman, Richard Dreyfuss, and Tim Roth. Its intriguing to think about the way the script was crafted using Hamlet as a backstory. Clever work! And the dialog is filled with word play. I glad I've seen the film version--something I've had on my "list" but have only now got around to seeing.

Didn't make it to the symposium today. I set the alarm, but when it went off I just flipped over and went back to sleep. I slept until nearly noon. I don't recall what I dreamed about last night. There was a lot of dreaming--some having to do with waking and falling back to sleep while in the dream states.

Looks like it's going to be warm over the next week. It was way too warm today. May have hit the 100s in the inland areas. Hot, hot summer days!

4672

Got an acupressure treatment and leg feels 1000% better. Looks like if I continue to rest it and get a few more treatments, all will be well. Or at least I'll be back to the place I was in before whatever happened happened. Thank goodness!

BH fixed a tasty lunch today (grilled vegetables, fish with prawns, a kimchi-like dish, fresh plum cobbler, and cranberry juice). Wonderful! GH and I watched another Resnais film, Love Unto Death. Cinematography was jumpy and repetitious--gimmicky and difficult to watch. He had some of the oddball jump cuts in The War is Over. This time he had different but just as gimmicky cuts that chopped the flow into hundreds of pieces. There was almost more time spent in the fades to black and other transition frames as was spent in the story. The story was weak and tiresome. He is so well reviewed some of his work must be better than what we've seen so far. Let's hope!

Dreamed last night but don't recall any details. Got an email from my youngest sister today--it's her birthday today! We grow old! I'm still reverberating from making it past the big 7-O marker! Roll on, roll on!

Thursday, August 06, 2009

4673

It's the big, I mean really BIG, seven-O! Full moon, lunar eclipse, and the big 70!

Where did all of those years go? And how did I get here from way back there? And where does it all lead? To what?

Dreamed last night a chaotic set of dreams. They were all over the place. There were dreams about being with a group of toy developers. A dream about going into a meeting where something tense was to be discussed. A dream about being in this massive, labyrinthine building and knowing my way around the place. Dreams about meeting people and interacting with them. A flood of dreams! A dream deluge!

Watched a film called Shattered Glass. It was based on a true story about a journalist who fabricated stories in the New Republic. It was an interesting glimpse into the persona of a person who managed to fool a number of people for a very long time. A tragic but gripping tale!

So the big 7-O slides by and I embark upon the next decade. The last one has been a rather mixed bag--some of the best of times and some of the worst. What will the next decade bring?

4674

Full moon tonight and a lunar eclipse. Eclipse can't be seen here.

Skipped PD exercise class today. Did my laundry instead! Hmmm! Days seem much longer now that I have all the extra time from not going to classes.

Dreamed last night but don't recall any details. I think I lost the content when I awoke this morning. Awoke to the trash can symphony! It was trash pickup morning and the series of trucks make for a cacophony of sounds. There's the grass and trimmings truck; the recyclables truck; and the garbage truck. Each has its own set of containers. In addition, the garbage men have their metal canisters. Makes for quite a clatter starting about 7:30AM and continuing on some kind of schedule until nearly noon. No wonder I didn't remember my dreams.

Watched two movies over the past two days--In the Presence of the Enemy (a UK mystery film) and A Good Year (A light comedy set in the UK and France). Both were enjoyable, but nothing outstanding. Just entertainment!

Time to slip into the dream world under the light of the moon.

4675

Dreamed last night (or today) that I was in an office. There was a woman in a cubicle near my area that was measuring the access ways. She was going to put little raised transoms in the doorways to each cubicle. She had been assigned to perform that task and she was deep into it. At one point the dream shifted to a theater or performance hall. I was in the audience. There were some kind of activities taking place in the seating areas, but I'm not sure what they were about. In another section of the dream, a woman was holding onto set of sticks that had colored papers attached to each stick. The wind was blowing and tearing off the strips of paper. Finally, only two small blue strips were left.

Dreams were chaotic--not unlike real life. I slept a lot today. Did not go to dance and movement classes. I'm certain that the rest is helping. I still have tightness and cramping in my left hip area, but it's growing better with the resting.

Got a call from a guru tonight! I went to an empowerment ceremony 8 or 9 years ago. Tonight, someone from that group called and invited me to some upcoming events. It was so long ago that at first I didn't make the connection. As we talked, it came back to me! It was a call from a guru--one who has a good database. I was surprised that my phone number in their database was still current. Guess I've had the same number for a while. His web site is hamsa-yoga.org.

I looked him up and sure enough it was the guru I'd seen so long ago. Ahhh! What wonders computers can bring!

4676

Skipped CW dance class today. Leg is feeling better with not being tweaked by dancing. Will see how things are in the morning and decide whether or not to go to PD dance class and later to the movement class. Appears that my leg is better off with rest for now. Go with the flow!

LL sent me a quote -- Don't just wait for the storms of life to pass, learn to dance in the rain! It's a quote from Vivian Greene, a woman who went through a trying series of events and came out on the other side.

BH fixed a delicious lunch today--fresh salad, eggplant Parmesan, fruit and cranberry juice. GH and I watched Night and Fog (a 30 minute documentary on the Nazi's death camps) and The War is Over. The second film was confusing and a bit long. Both were directed by Resnais. The War is Over was well photographed, but used a disconcerting set of cuts and flashbacks that made the plot difficult to follow. Also there were several didactic scenes where the actors orated at each other. For me, the jury is still out regarding this person's work.

Dreamed last night but nothing was remembered. Maybe I was dancing in the dream rain.

Lunar eclipse due in a few nights. Moon is nearly full. Time for some full moon dreaming.

Almost full moon! Waxing heavily gibbous! Another lazy day! Still making stiff and creaky movements. Don't know right now about tomorrow's dance class. Will see how things feel in the morning.

Picked up some films by Resnais. Previewed the short documentary he did in 1955--ten years after the end of WWII. It's titled Night and Fog. It's a graphic recap of the Nazi atrocities. It is filled with blunt and stark images of the horrors that were inflicted to so many people. The film perhaps shows how he created some of his earlier works. I have two of his later, dramatic films--The War is Over and Love Until Death. Will be interesting to see how his major films compare to his earlier pieces.

Dreams last night, but nothing that I recall. I dream/dozed as I awoke and forgot what it was about. Perhaps the full moon will trigger some dreamscapes.

Watched the movie Sixth Sense. It was the second time I've seen it now. It was certainly like watching a different film knowing what it was all about. Especially since I'd also learned something about the clues and signs that were used to signal specific character interactions. Clearly a masterpiece of film-making that will be difficult to equal. The human mind is awesome!

Leg was still stiff today, but also somewhat better. Rest and relaxation seem to be the way through this aggravation.

Did some research on Resnais and his films. Look forward to seeing some of his works. He began his film-making work with documentaries--mostly on and about artists.

July is gone! August arrives! The moon is waxing gibbous! Soon will be full!
