No ghosts or goblins! No spooky spirits! The neighborhood was untouched by the ravenous hordes of sugar-munchers. The apartment complex is just too scary for the little ones despite their love of sweets. Now, I have a lot of bite-sized chocolate bars and 3 Musketeers tidbits. Maybe I can donate them so I won't eat them up.

Dreamed a trio of dreams last night. One dream involved me trying to name or label a shadowy person who was standing in front of me. I was trying to name the person and give that information to another person, who was standing beside me. Each time I thought I had the person's name and information, I would lose the thread of the data and would have to start over. It was a frustrating and very real dream. At one point, I made myself stop what I was doing.

A second dream segment had me working with a team of people who were making a type of ammunition for some large weapons. The items we made were the rounds that would be put into the weapons. The rounds had to be precisely constructed. When finished, each round was wrapped in a blue cloth and transported to the soldiers with the weapons. The atmosphere in the dream was intense. The rounds had to made with care so that they could accurately fired.

A third dream segment involved me helping a woman escape from an abandoned warehouse. She was being chased by a group of killers. I had agreed to help her escape from her predators even if it meant that I might be hurt.

The three dreams fit together in some ways. It was like there was a common theme to the dreams even though the circumstances in each were different.

Got an email from my half-sister. It's been a few years since we touched base. Her birth mother is in her 90s and still going strong. I also got a note from LL. She has had a book published (Amazon, E-books) on relationships (Beloved Partnerships). Good for her!

Today, I thought a lot about being someplace warm and tropical--near the beach and the sea.

Sunday, soon day, spoon daze, and other dislocations. I sleep therefore I dream.

Dreamed last night that I was on an analytical project with a group of people. We were testing a system that made associative connections between objects and activities. In the dream, I was writing down a list of particular terms that would drive the testing. The dream was very lucid and I was aware of my place in the dream. The project testing went well and produced forecast results.

Watched a movie this afternoon--Venus. It's a story about some aged actors whose fading lives are impacted by a young woman--the Venus. It's a good movie with good performances by several actors. It's a little edgy regarding having an old man being with a much younger woman. Peter O'Toole was the lead and looked quite old and frail.

Halloween tomorrow! Wonder if I'll have any trick/treaters? Didn't see any the past few years. The apartment complex looks foreboding and scary. Keeps the fearful away.

3858

Winding up for Halloween! The ghosts and goblins will soon be near! Keep seeing people in costume already. Perhaps they dress that way all the time.

Dreamed last night a detailed dream about publishing a mathematics book or magazine. I had made a dummy of the various pieces of content and was delivering the manuscript to the publisher. For some reason, he didn't seem to grasp the way I wanted the material presented. He kept trying to change the layout and design. I had to argue forcibly for my version of the final product. He finally relented and let my design and layout stand.

In a second dream, I was with a group of guys. We had been staying in a remote cabin, playing cards, drinking beer, and fishing. It was time for us to pack up and leave. We all crowded into a car and left the place. We left the cabin in a mess, but we didn't seem to care.

There were several other dream segments--none of which I recall now. It was a busy dreaming night! Feeling tired tonight even though I slept in late this morning and napped in the afternoon. To bed soon! And let the lights fade into darkness--the mists hide the moon!

Watched a Danish/Swedish film tonight: Reconstruction. It's an intriguing movie! Something like a Synecdoche love story. The film totally mixes up what may be dream and reality. There are surprises galore. The only negative thing is the opening/closing song--Night and Day. Could have done without it.

3859

Lifted those weights today! We did a new exercise and I discovered that my muscles still have a ways to go. Even with 8lb weights the new move was still hard to do. Always something new to work with.

Watched the Pelican Brief tonight. I'd seen the film a long time ago. I recalled so little of it that it was like watching for the first time. It's a good film. The tension and movement of the action is well done. The story is somewhat unlikely, but it's close enough to reality to make you suspend disbelief and go with the plot. The story is based on a Grisham novel and is fast paced.

Weekend is upon us. Time is passing fast. Winter winds are blowing. Omens have been cast.
Dreams are misty shadows. Rain is on the way. Sleep suspends the darkness. Light pursues the day. I am made of silver. I am cast in gold. Diamonds are my lenses. I hear songs of old.

3860

Cool and cooler goes the days. It was chilly last night and also toward the end of today. Movement class felt good. Subtle movement but makes things better. Had some soup and cornbread after class. Good stuff!

Dreamed last night a series of really detailed dreams. I was in an auditorium where there was some kind of game being played. For some reason, the actual game had to be postponed. One team was either late or detained so the game had to be canceled. People were chagrined but were being given tickets to a future game as compensation. After the game cancellation was made, everyone filed down to a large area where food was going to be served. There was some confusion regarding if people were going to pay at the door or at the food counters. The door monitors were arguing back and forth about which way it was going to be. Finally, someone resolved everything (I'm not sure in which way) and everyone was let in. People rushed toward the food counters to get their meals. Finally, I was with a group of men who were underneath the stadium and eating area. We were there as a preventative measure in case the crowds started to get out of hand. As we waited, we were given a signal that we were going to be deployed. I volunteered to run up to the signal room to take the deployment order. As I entered the room, the telephone started ringing--my actual phone in the living room. I stumbled out of bed (I had been flat asleep) and took the call.

It was the H's calling to let me know that I was invited to their place for Thanksgiving. Yummy, yes!

When I checked my email, I saw that there was a note from my half sister in San Diego. I haven't been in touch with her for years. She sent a photo of her and her husband. They look great! Will be good to touch base with them again.

Watched a film tonight--Walk the Line. It's about the lives of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. The two lead actors actually perform all the songs that they sing in the film. Reese Witherspoon (who played June Carter) won an Oscar for her performance. Joaquin Phoenix (who played Cash) was nominated. It was an excellent film and showcased the music of the times--music that was being created while I was in high school in the town where I lived!

PD weight training on dock for tomorrow! Let there be lift!

3861

Had a good PD gait and balance class today. It was lightly attended. Several people were exhibiting symptoms who usually did not do so. I came away from the class feeling hungry. Had a tasty Thai dish of fish and rice--tangy and sweet. Came home and slipped into bed and slept for several hours. Finally awoke. The weather had turned a bit chilly. Winter is a'comin' in!

No movie tonight at the H's. GH has an early morning appointment so he had to cancel.

Movement class tomorrow. Look forward to the relaxation that it brings.

Also looking forward to going back to bed tonight. Will read some and then sleep the night away. Dreams will come! May I remember some of them.

3862

PD dance celebration went well today. Had over 50 people at the event. It was joyous!

Also did a weight training session in the afternoon. That was a bit of a stretch given the morning's activities, but made it.

Watched a movie tonight--Valley of the Heart's Delight. It is a film about a lynching that took place in the Santa Clara valley in the early 1930s. A well known family's son was kidnapped by a bunch of thugs. The man died during the abduction. Two men, not the kidnappers, were picked up for the crime, and were lynched by a mob who were incited by the media accounts. It was a nice movie, but not all that compelling. The dialog was stilted and rather dumb. It's a fairly recent production (2009) but that didn't help anything.

I dreamed last night about being wrapped in sheets or blankets. I was ensnared in those items and couldn't seem to get loose. At one point, I managed to pull the items off to one side, but I was still caught up on the other side.

I slept in late this morning. I was going to get up around 8:30am but I turned over at that time and awoke at 9:30am. I was due at the PD dance around 10am. I had to hump it to get there on time. Hopefully, I'll make it to tomorrow's gait/balance class on schedule.

3863

Big day tomorrow at the PD institute. There will be a PD dance celebration and performance in the morning and a PD weight training class in the afternoon.

Went to the H's today to read some more of the novel about Rimbaud. Everything seemed poignant in some way based on PH being gone. Her passing has tinted all that I'm doing. I'm feeling heavy and tired. I'm still absorbing the fact that she's no longer just an email away. Time will make things easier. I just miss a friend!

I dreamed last night that I was in an empty building. It was like a warehouse or workshop. I was going to spend the night in the place. But everything was dark and eerie. There was virtually nothing in the place. I entered the place and closed the door but failed to lock it. I returned later and set the locks. It was a strange dream.

3864

Got a sad piece of news today--my friend PH is no longer here. She passed away sometime over the last week. One of her daughters, G, called me today with the news.

The last time I heard from PH was the weekend of her birthday earlier this month. RIP dear friend. May your journeys beyond be as rich as your time was here on this world. I miss you!

3865

Did laundry this morning. Everything went smoothly--there were few people at the facility so I got in and out fairly quickly. The laundromat had been cleaned up quite a bit. The machines were bright and shiny. Usually the place is somewhat cluttered. But someone had really polished the place.

Came home after grabbing some food and slept the afternoon away. I suddenly felt really logy and I lay down on the bed. Slept for several hours.

Watched a thriller/killer movie tonight--Manhunter. It was a police story about hunting down a copycat serial killer. The film was a bit cerebral and talky. The person leading the pursuit was an FBI profiler who found himself getting too far inside the heads of such killers. The lead actor was William Petersen (of CSI fame). Unfortunately, he came across flat with no dimensions.

Warm today and warm tomorrow! It's one day past the day that was predicted for the end of everything. Whew! We made it again! Is the next big date 11/11/11? Looks formidable! We shall see!

3866

PD weight training class was small today. Smaller classes means harder workouts. Larger classes help spread out the time and the intervals between sets. Smaller classes move things along a bit faster and makes the repetitions somewhat more strenuous. But the overall results are good. No pain no gain!

Watched a film tonight called Redbelt. It was about a master teacher of martial arts and the sport of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). It was a take off on kung fu/samurai films--brought up to date with current MMA activities and fight sequences. There was something annoying about most of the film and the "Rocky" ending was most implausible. The actor who played the lead did some intensive training before the shooting began with several well known martial arts instructors who also appeared in parts of the film. The film was written and directed by David Mamet. He's been quite a prolific writer of TV and movie scripts (around 40 citations) and a somewhat active director (around 20 citations). Some of the Feature materials on the DVD were interesting--especially the segments on MMA and how the fight scenes were done.

Weekend wends it's way through the mists and fog. Laundry calls! Onward and onward!

3867

Movement class was a lot of fun today. What we do is about the same each class, but everyone was moving well today and having fun.

I went out for a late lunch (after class) and came back and fell asleep. I didn't go to the coffee shop so the exercise let me zonk out.

Watched a movie tonight: Possession. It's a somewhat Da Vinci Code-like film about a Victorian poet and his mystery lover. The story is set in today's time with a couple of literature researchers working to unravel the identity of the mystery lover and how she and the poet found each other. The screen play is based on an English novel that was popular. The two-level story line (today's researchers and the life/times of the lover/poets) is handled really well with shifts back and forth that are clever and seamless. I enjoyed the film.

PD weight training class tomorrow! I'm noticing that I'm getting toned up as we continue to do this class. I'm sitting/standing/walking more upright. I'm coming to the realization that I need to increase my physical regimen--more movement, dance and cardio. Need to do so!

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

3868

Watched a Mel Gibson epic tonight at the H's--Apocalypto. It's a $40MM extravaganza that was not all that exciting. The body count in the film is off the charts--not including the images of slaves, captives, and sacrificial victims.

PD gait and balance class was excellent today. One of the best sessions I've experienced. The trainer used some upbeat, rhythmic music. We walked and moved to the beat. Everyone looked like they were having fun.

I awoke really late this morning. Still managed to make it to class on time, but it was a push.

Movement class tomorrow. Let there be movement! Many Mayan dreams!

3869

Went to PD dance class today. We rehearsed for next week's celebration. It felt good! The showcase is coming together. Also had a weight training session. Did well with the 12lb weights!

Have a gait and balance class tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll get up a bit earlier than I did today. I almost just rolled over and went back to sleep.

No movie tonight! I didn't get to the library to exchange DVDs. Heading to bed early tonight. Will read my way to dreamland.

We'll be watching Apocalypto (Mel Gibson) for movie night tomorrow with the H's. Should be an interesting film.

3870

Hazy, lazy day! Read some more of the novel about Rimbaud with GH. GH is really digging into Rimbaud's life and writing. He's giving himself a year to do research and develop a performance piece around the man and his poetry.

Watched an old Noel Coward movie (directed by David Lean) tonight: Brief Encounter. It is one of the first films where the sound (music, effects, ambient noise) was fully integrated into the action--almost becoming a character in its own right. The film came across as very natural. There was a lot of creative use of flashback and associated narration that never bogged things down. Film movement, back and forth, kept the overall action unfolding and telling the story. It was a surprisingly pleasing film and marked with good performances by the small cast.

PD dance and weight training tomorrow! Looking forward to moving and such.

3871

Dreamed last night that I was in a building with a group of people. We were breaking into the place and I think there was an explosive that was about to detonate. At one point, several of us (including myself) were trapped in a narrow room. There were two doors leading away from the room, but the doors were locked and we were trapped inside. We kept trying various things to break through or unlock the doors. The dream was very intense. I awoke feeling jittery and compressed. In the dream, I was somehow split between the person I was in the dream and the dilemma, and as an entity that was floating above the chaos--observing, evaluating, and thinking of strategies that would free us.

Watched a film, David and Lisa, tonight. It was a somewhat clunky film about a girl and boy who meet in a psychiatric hospital. She is schizophrenic and only communicates in rhymes. He is weird and compulsive. He can't stand being touched and flies into a rage and frenzy if anyone touches him. It's a love story on medications. Like I said, clunky. Good idea but not all that well presented.

Weekend ends! Back on the track tomorrow and into the week. Tired of sleeping!

Discovered the activities of a few more people who were in my acting classes. There was a cluster of people from those classes that went on and made a career in the field. A surprising number of people given the small class and the toughness of the industry. Break a leg!

3872

It is Saturday and that meant lots of sleep. I slept in late this morning, went out for a while, and came back and slept some more. I didn't do anything all that tiring, but I really zonked out anyway.

Watched a Chinese movie tonight--Sunflower. It's a film by a fairly young director. It depicted the lives of a family (and some friends) over a 30-year period. It was a well done film that dealt with the changes in China and in personal attitudes over the time span (1969-1999). Much of the action revolved around a father and son, and their conflicts and beliefs. It was an engaging movie and was like glimpse into the Chinese culture--a series of snapshots as things changed for the characters.

The father in the film had a neurological illness. Guess which one? Yes, he was afflicted with PD. The disorder prevented him from painting. He had lost his small motor control. His desire to be a painter was pushed onto his son, who was talented but not wanting to follow his father's desires.

There was an interesting panorama near the end of the film of elderly people in a large park. They were doing exercises, movement, and a host of physical activities. The scene made me want to get up and get out in the open air, and do some movement.

3873

Slept a lot this morning. Finally, awoke and made it to weight training class. The 12lb weights are getting lighter! Starting to make it through the presses with minimal stress. Keep on lifting!

Watched a Spanish movie tonight--The Sea Inside--a story based on a man who lived nearly 30 years as a paraplegic. He fought through the courts for his right to end his own life. He failed to change the legal system to mesh with his wishes, but with the help of friends he managed to leave this life on his own terms. It was a wrenching movie that makes a case for assisted suicide and the toll a medical condition like his takes on the immediate family members. The lead actor, Bardem (No Country for Old Men), played the role of Ramon Sampedro (Hmmm!). The film was well done especially given that two (three) of the key characters were in wheel chairs or were bedridden. Not a light movie, but one that told a good story.

Dreamed last night (and perhaps also on some previous nights) about being in Memphis. I was near Beale Street and was having a problem finding a bus that would take me where I needed to go. I ended up going into an storefront office and asking for help. A woman who worked in the office helped me find the bus that I needed to take. She walked with me to the bus stop (it was not a very friendly-looking neighborhood) and talked with the driver to verify where I needed to get off. There were multiple scenes where I was walking through the streets, carrying a bag that contained my computer, telephone, and other stuff. I felt uneasy walking through that area, but felt OK enough to walk into the office and ask for help. There were scenes of certain streets and stores that were more like memories than dreams. It was as if I were looking though an old photo album and seeing images that my mind had recorded. Strange!

3874

Had a movement class today. Weather has turned warm and muggy. Classroom was a bit like a sauna. But the class felt good even though I did come home and sleep (after eating).

Watched a mildly funny film tonight: Thank You for Smoking. It was a film about spin and the brazen personalities it takes to lobby for things that are not liked (smoking, drinking. guns and such). The film never grabbed me--it was just something I was watching, not experiencing.

PD weight training session tomorrow. Lift those 12lb weights!

And the beat goes on... and on... and on... Until it doesn't!

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

3875

Went to the PD seminar today. It was informative. There were a goodly number of people there--a room full of ghosts! We did a short excerpt from our dance showcase with about half of our normal crew. But, it went well! People are moved by the performance of words, music and movement.

Movement class tomorrow! Looking forward to it. Keep thinking about how I might do even more activities--how I might get out in the community more in some way. Don't know how I might accomplish such a thing, but I feel that I need to make it happen. Keeping my eye out for an opportunity, a possibility! There has to be something that would work. Let it be!

Didn't do a movie night at the H's tonight. GH was feeling punky. Sounded like he'd be better off getting some rest rather than slugging through a film.

Heard a show on NPR centered around biotechnology. There are so many things on the horizon--some more scary than others. Soon we will be replacing body parts and organs much like we get our cars serviced. The technology is almost, if not already, there! Strange new world!

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

3876

Had PD dance class and a weight training class today. Dance class is honing in on the presentation we will do on the 25th. A little buzz going on because of this scheduled event. Tomorrow, I will be part of a preview of the dance showcase for a PD seminar.

Watched a movie tonight--Cross Creek--about the woman author (Marjorie Rawlings) who lived in Florida and wrote stories set in rural domains. The film was about her life living in an isolated area and her battles to become a writer. The film had three strong actors in the lead roles and a good supporting cast. It was a satisfying film that was drawn out a bit too long, but overall very watchable.

Weight training felt good today. The 12lb weights felt lighter--I didn't have a lot of trouble with the presses. I can feel the increase in strength even though it's only slight. Keep on lifting!

Monday, October 10, 2011

3877

Misty, cool day! Went to the H's and read more sections of the Rimbaud novel. Feeling a bit shaky today. Not sure if it's the temperature shifts that have been happening or some interaction with the medications. Have PD dance and weight training classes tomorrow. Will be good to move and lift some.

Turmoil throughout the globe! Don't see how everything is going to be sorted out. Not without a lot of displacement and adjustment--radical adjustment.

Had an awful dream last night. I was in a camping ground in a tent. Two men who were with the group of us came into the tent. I was wrapped up in my sleeping bag. I asked what they wanted and they began to soak the surface of my sleeping bag with an odoriferous liquid. It smelled like urine. I couldn't move as they soaked the bag and finally left, laughing and joking. My only thought was to get revenge for what they had done. I got up and went to a bridge that spanned a cesspool. I took out the central section of the bridge and remounted it so that, if stepped on, it would give way. After I had altered the bridge, I waited along the trail. One of the men who had soaked my sleeping bag walked across the bridge. The center section gave way and he fell into the slimy cesspool. He was really angry and I could hear him vow to get even. The dream shifted to the next day and the guy who had fallen into the cesspool drove up in my truck. The tires had been slashed and the side panels beaten into big dents. No one said anything. He just pulled the battered truck to the edge of the road. My thoughts went to figuring out that the vehicle was totaled--that it would cost more to fix it than to buy a new vehicle. Somehow, that comforted me!

I didn't say anything. I just kept thinking about getting a new vehicle!

3878

And Boom! Lots of details about Steve Jobs is flooding over the Internet. RIP Steve! RIP!

Watched a couple of movies this evening. Watched a French thriller called Red Lights. It's about a couple who are having personal problems that are affecting their lives. They take a car trip to go pick up their two children, who are at a camp. On the way, they separate and each encounters some life changing events. The events take them both to the edge. They come to realize that they are better off together than apart. But this benign story was punctuated with events that almost take both their lives.

The second film I screened was The Blue Tooth Virgin. It's a somewhat comedy about writing, writers, and two friends that end up telling each other the truth--about a lot of things, including their writing. The best parts of the film were a set of inter titles with quotes by writers about writing. For example the following saying (author unknown):
  • Your manuscript is both good and original; but the part that is good is not original, and the part that is original is not good.
I have no idea what the title means or implies.

Dreamed last night a continuation of a dream I had earlier in the week. The early dream had me talking with a group of people about me joining their group. They did some type of consulting projects and I had the right blend of skills to help them. When I went to their offices, I had to drive around the area a few times in order to find the place and its parking lot. I realized that just finding the offices was a test in itself. I was introduced to everyone and told that I was to work closely with a woman, Lotte.

In last night's dream, I was returning to the offices. I still had some trouble finding the place, but did so after taking a poorly maintained road. When I arrived, there were dozens of cars parked everywhere. I parked and went in. There were dozens of people sitting around tables. They were eating and drinking--having what looked like a party. I found some of my team members and asked them what was happening. It seemed that the company had signed a big contract. The staff from the client were being given a celebration by our team. I was encouraged to join in the fun--eat, drink and have a good time. The dream was light and pleasant.
Weekend ends! Off to the daily activities again.

Saturday, October 08, 2011

3879

Laundry day! Didn't get out and about until about 2pm. Laundromat was not too crowded by that time. Only a few people there when I arrived; almost none when I finished.

Went downtown to pick up my mail. Streets were jammed. There was an SU football game today and the Steve Jobs flash memorial at the Apple store. Lots of people and lots of cars. Finally backtracked to my neighborhood and got a green tea latte to settle my systems.

Went to the CG for dinner. Had tilapia with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes. Yum! Was good!

Sunday, Sunday! Coming soon to calendars in your location! Let there be light (or lite, or mite)!

3880

Meteor showers tonight! May the lights go zoom!

Watched a French film, Z, tonight. It was a story about a prosecutor having to unravel a case that had all kinds of vying political forces and elements of corruption. The tale is built, loosely, around an assassination of a political anarchist that the government, police, and certain groups that tried to get the crime passed off as an accident. The film was directed by a Greek, Costa-Gavros. The film has some interesting camera work and experimentation that feed the overall effects and action.

PD weight training class was full today. There were several new people. The 12-lb weights seemed a bit less heavy today. Still having some difficulty with presses, but today was better.

Had lunch at the Garden Fresh veggie place today. Food is tasty, filling, and perhaps healthy. May end up going there more often. It's a good balance to the CG place.

3881

Movement class today despite the pouring rain. Small class--two students and one instructor. But it felt good to do the exercises. Had a bowl of soup and a wedge of cornbread for a late meal. It took the chill off that the rains brought to the area.

Went to Starbucks for a green tea latte. They have raised their prices. Only about 5%, but still it's a raise when nothing is increasing people's personal incomes. Sign of the times!

Caught up on my TV dramas this afternoon and evening. I have to admit that I'm addicted to several of the crime dramas that are on the CBS channel. There's at least one show each night--more on most evenings.

Feeling a bit tired now as the evening twists away. PD weight training tomorrow. Sleepy dreams!

Oh, yes! Dreams! I dreamed last night that I was in a house near a beach. Along the beach there was a carnival. From the house, I could watch some of the carnival shows and rides. It was a light, misty dream scape, filled with lights and ocean sounds.

3882

It has definitely cooled down. I wore a two-layer shirt tonight to stave off the chill. It's also been raining and that has added to the coolness. No need for a heater right now, but it's coming.

Watched a Chinese film tonight: Warriors of Heaven and Earth. It was beautifully photographed. The story was a rehash of a cowboys and Indians plot with Samurai instead of cowboys and camels instead of horses. It had many unreal fight scenes where a handful of men hold off hordes of attackers. The number of cuts in the action were incredible. It must have been a feat to have filmed most of the action scenes which took place in a desert location, far away from any habitations.

Steve Jobs has died. He was only 56! He certainly left his mark on the world though. Adios Steve! See you in the cloud!

PD gait and balance class today. Felt good to move. Movement class tomorrow! Let there be movement!

Tuesday, October 04, 2011

3883

PD dance and weight training sessions on this rainy day. Didn't nap today and had no caffeine. Felt good to be in the dance session. Had to struggle a bit with the weight training. The 12-lb weights seem to be getting heavier! Have to keep on with regular workouts and the strength will come.

Watched an action/drama tonight called The Lookout. It had several twists, turns and a cast of peculiar, oddball characters. It was a good film with the script writer doing his first shot at directing. Wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again, but it's worth seeing.

Has definitely grown cooler over the past few days. Was actually chilly last night.

PD gait and balance class tomorrow. Heard Brian Greene on NPR tonight (City Arts and Lectures). Great talk and presentation! He makes really complex issues simple and clear.

Monday, October 03, 2011

3884

Monday, Monday! Coolness in the air! Busy week ahead! It was nice to see some rain today.

Went to the H's today and read some more of the Rimbaud novel. The style of writing is a bit baroque but seems to capture some of the music of his poetry and his life.

PD dance and weight training tomorrow. Read some articles by Brian Greene about physics principles and string theory. I could have been a physicist. I almost was. I was enrolled as a physics major when I first went to college. I still recall initial lectures on 4-dimensional mathematics.

Many different paths spread out before me and I've made choices that have pulled me one way over another. The roads diverged and I went down this way versus that. A random walk that has led me here and not there. The mysteries of the universe!

Sunday, October 02, 2011

3885

Sunny Sunday! Yet, cool and breezy! Didn't do much today. Went to the library and exchanged DVDs. Felt like I ate a lot today. Seemed that way!

Dreamed last night that I was helping out in a large school for young children. I was working with some of the kids on math problems. I had developed a system for teaching really young kids math principles. The dream took place on a large campus. I was in a room overlooking the campus grounds. I was with a bunch of the teachers and we were reviewing students' progress. We were looking for ways to improve what and how we were teaching. There was a lot of give and take as we discussed and evaluated our methods. I think the dream drifted as I awoke and centered on historical events in my life.

On City Arts and Lectures today they had Brian Greene, the physicist. He is really articulate on the subject of physics, string theory, and related disciplines. He is a joy to listen to. The show will repeat on Tuesday evening. Will be worth hearing him again.

Yes, I slept the day away! It was cooler today and it felt good to just roll up and sleep. I did get out for a late brunch, but came back and napped some more.

Watched a French film, Mauvais Sang (Bad Blood). It had some major French actors (Piccoli and Binoche). But they couldn't save the jerky script and storyline or the side tracks the director took. He had some strange sequences where the actors dreams were displayed or manic actions were given free rein. Like many French films, the end result was disappointment and a sense of incompletion or unresolved events. Binoche, as always, eats up the camera. Her face is mesmerizing and always interesting.

Having some kind of technical difficulties with my computer or the Internet feed. Too late to think about it.

Dreamed last night about climbing. We were gathering the gear and equipment in preparation for a climb.
