It's been nearly 4 months since I had a colon surgery... I spent a lot of that time recovering my energy levels... and am back to doing boxing 4 times each week... It took me a lot longer than I imagined to get back to any of my routines... I still haven't restarted dancing... And it looks like it will still be a while...
The lymphoma that I was treated for earlier (about a year ago) did not go away completely... I was given another PET Scan (and an MRI) and it looks like it's still active... I met with a radiation oncologist on Friday (10/19) and I'll meet with his planing team next Friday to lay out a treatment plan... supposedly using a low-dose technique that will produce few side effects...
Have to say none of this makes me happy... But the oncologist made a good case for getting more aggressive... I'll also probably do another round of immune treatments at the same time... sort of a 1-2 punch to use my boxing analogy-speak...
The radiation will be done in 15 sessions over 3 weeks with 5 per week... there will be 4 immune treatments done once a week over 4 weeks... A radiation session takes about 15 minutes and an immune session takes about 4 hours... Supposedly, I can continue to box while all of this takes place as long as I'm willing to drive all over the city to get to the various venues...
So that's what I've been doing with my time since I dropped out of touch... getting up to speed on what my body is trying to tell me as the medical system keeps finding reasons for me to stay in touch with it... Not exciting and really boring and frustrating actually... but it is what it is...
